Viewer-Centred Representations for Location and Inspection
نویسندگان
چکیده
We examine the use of viewer-centred representations (VCRs) for object recognition, location and inspection, employed in the framework of advanced inspection systems. We introduce a recognitionoriented VCR of 3D objects and show how to compute it using cluster analysis of approximate visibility spaces. Using the same representational framework, we illustrate the automatic generation of VCRs for feature-based inspection of 3D objects.

Visualization for genomics: the Microbial Genome Viewer
SUMMARY A Web-based visualization tool, the Microbial Genome Viewer, is presented that allows the user to combine complex genomic data in a highly interactive way. This Web tool enables the interactive generation of chromosome wheels and linear genome maps from genome annotation data stored in a MySQL database. The generated images are in scalable vector graphics (SVG) format, which is suitable...
متن کاملNeglect of radial and vertical space: importance of the retinotopic reference frame.
Neglect from bilateral brain injury can disrupt responses along space defined by the vertical and radial axes. The spatial reference frames for vertical and radial neglect remain largely undefined, however. The viewer centred system, for example, consists of retinocentric and cephalocentric/corporacentric frames. In the present study, different viewer centred reference frames were dissociated i...

Ellis and Allport (1986; see also Ellis, Allport, Humphreys & Collis, 1989) proposed a model of object perception wherein successively more abstract descriptions are generated as a function of processing time. The aspect of their model that is examined here is the proposal that viewer-centred representations of objects decay rapidly whereas object-centred or semantic-level representations do no...

Spatial priming allows memory for target locations to be evaluated, whereby when a target appears in the same location across trials participants become more efficient at locating it and consequently their search times decrease. Previously, we reported priming effects when the location of a target was repeated with respect to the participant’s body but not when it was repeated relative to their...
متن کاملA Computational Model of the Referential Semantics of Projective Prepositions
In this paper we present a framework for interpreting locative expressions containing the prepositions in front of and behind. These prepositions have different semantics in the viewer-centred and intrinsic frames of reference (Vandeloise, 1991). We define a model of their semantics in each frame of reference. The basis of these models is a novel parameterized continuum function that creates a ...
